CommitteesPersonnel CommitteeThis committee is responsible for the staff of the church. It conducts performance and compensation reviews of church staff members. The minister of the church is Head of Staff and together with the Personnel Committee, employs staff other than the Pastor. The Personnel Committee hosts receptions for departing Staff when vacancies are imminent or have occurred. It assists in writing office policies. Job descriptions for various positions in the church are established by the Personnel Committee in dialogue with staff members and the Pastor and are then approved by the Session.Nominating CommitteeThis committee is responsible for presenting names to the congregation for positions of Elders and Deacons for election at the annual meeting. Should a vacancy occur before the completion of a term, the Nominating Committee will convene to select a name to present to the congregation at a Special Meeting to fill the unexpired term. The committee is composed of two at-large representatives of the congregation who are elected by the congregation, by representatives from organizations within the church, from the Board of Deacons, and two Session members. Conducting receptions for Elders and Deacons who are retiring from active service are also the responsibility of this committee.Christian Education CommitteeThis committee is responsible for providing opportunities for spiritual growth through Christian education to all age groups within the church. It recruits and trains Sunday School teachers and oversees Sunday School programs for both adults and children. It also resources and supervises Summer Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, as well as oversees the Wednesday afternoon Faith Weaver Friends program. The committee sponsors a reception for graduating high school seniors. The Presbyterian Women of the Congregation and the Men's Group are arms of this committee.Worship CommitteeThis committee is responsible for arranging and enhancing the worship experience of the congregation. It provides for and establishes the order of worship, oversees any special or evening worship programs or services, and arranges for the administration of the Sacraments (with Session approval). This committee has the oversight of the music programs offered in the church. It also is responsible for sanctuary decorations; makes recommendations regarding hymnals used in worship; provides opportunities for the training of individuals including children in the meaning of the Sacraments; recruits supply pastors in the absence of the Pastor; encourages the training and use of the congregation as liturgists, greeters, ushers, acolytes.Evangelism CommitteeThis committee is responsible for local mission outreach. Its main responsibilities are encouraging members to become active by becoming involved in the work of the church; identifying potential members and inviting them to become members; follow-up of attendance sheets; supervising the church newsletter; maintenance of the church rolls. It hosts receptions for new members and also is responsible for distributing all church directories.Building and Grounds CommitteeThis committee is responsible for all maintenance of the church building and property. It is responsible for supervising janitorial services and for ordering supplies. Supervision of the property includes lawn services, snow removal, tree trimming, etc. The Building and Grounds Committee oversees the administration of Session policy of building use by outside organizations.Finance and Stewardship CommitteeThis committee is responsible for creating and implementing the Fall Stewardship Campaign and for preparing and recommending to the Session the budget for the coming year. This committee performs tracking of the budget after it is approved. It makes suggestions or recommendations to the Session as the need arises. There are teams of "money counters" who rotate counting the offering, verifying the figures and making appropriate deposits to the bank. The Finance and Stewardship Committee is also responsible for the maintenance of memorial fund records.Mission CommitteeThis committee is responsible for recommendations to the Session for the distribution of benevolence. Five percent of every dollar that comes into treasury of the Church goes toward Missions. The Mission Committee is also charged with the development, planning and implementation of "hands on" mission projects to increase our congregation's participation in mission opportunities. |
