MinistriesChildren and YouthChurch School is held every Sunday from September through June during the Worship Service, beginning with pre-school age. A nursery is available for infants.Vacation Bible School is a five day, summer celebration of worship, music, crafts, recreation, food and fun in a theme setting for pre-school through middle school. All of these programs are open to all children in the community. None of these programs would be possible without the dedicated adults who volunteer. AdultsMen’s Group is open to all men in the church. They meet on the third Saturday morning of the month at a local restaurant for breakfast and discussion.Circle is open to all women in the church. They meet at 1:00 p.m. September-June, the third Monday, in alternating homes of the ladies for Bible Study, mission development and fellowship. Quilters embrace all sewers who enjoy the fellowship derived from working together on a shared project. They meet at the church every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Adult Studies includes pre-worship Sunday morning Bible class and Tuesday morning study/discussion group that meet at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Food Pantry meets on the third Thursday of each month at St. Francis Xavier to provide food for the residents of Ecorse. 2 Cents a Meal collected the last Sunday of the month during our regular offering to help with hunger relief. Music Department offers a variety of opportunities for people of all ages who have an interest in music, vocal and instrumental. The choir rehearses on Wednesday from September through June. Small instrumental groups play throughout the year, and a bell choir occasionally performs for special occasions. Friday Night Dinners are served monthly to members, friends and neighbors of the church, as well as the general public as a fundraiser. Volunteers to cook, serve and clean up are continually needed and fellowship is a result of this collaboration. Mother-Daughter Banquet is an annual spring event celebrating mothers, daughters, grandmothers, granddaughters, sisters, aunts etc. related to church members and friends. It includes food, programs, prizes, music and fellowship. Fall Fair involves everybody in the church that wants to be involved. Booths of various types are set up around the church, such as baked goods, homemade and kids only. It is an all day Saturday event that also features a car show, followed by a roast beef dinner. The general public is invited and welcomed. |
